 About me

"Mermaiding" for  10 years

I began my journey of being a mermaid when I was 12 years old, with nothing but a Finis Wave monofin, and swimming in the local pool with that fin all day every day, learning the technique of flowing through the water while building a core.

I then found some spandex fabric to make my first tail, it was a beautiful shimmery gold material with tiny particles that seemed to replicate little fish scales. My rock climbing friend Niki helped me to measure my bodies circumference every 2 inches down my body, and even measured the fluke in there perfectly. So that was it! I was finished, and did the first test swim in an indoor lap pool.

If you have ever swam in a spandex tial, you know that it looks great, but it has a bit of a drag to it at the same time, this instantly made me want to move on even further to the silicone tial, because although it would be heavier, it would have a better flow, and the knee  situation wouldn't look so dramatic. I created a silicone tail ( description in my blog on basics of the process)

Just recently, Mermaid Shae was hired as a professional mermaid for Laka Lono's grand opening October of 2016.

Let's work together
